Kodak ProImage 100

ProImage 100 was formulated for markets where film sits on unrefrigerated shelves in warm climates for months before being sold. Heat accelerates emulsion aging and color drift, and most consumer stocks start to shift in ways that produce inconsistent results. Kodak designed ProImage 100 with a more stable base and thermal tolerance built in, which is why it became the standard professional print stock across South and Southeast Asia before it was available in Western markets at all.

The color response leans warm, particularly in skin. Under tropical daylight, faces read rich rather than bleached. Saturation is moderate to high; this is not a neutral or pastel stock. Compared to Portra 160, ProImage is more saturated, warmer, and less precise about shadow separation. Compared to Gold 200, it is slightly more controlled and has better shadow rendering. It occupies a middle position that works particularly well for outdoor wedding and event coverage where the light is bright and warm and the subjects are people.

The grain for an ISO 100 stock is slightly coarser than Portra 160 or T-MAX 100, but it is regular and pleasant. This is not a large-format stock. It is a 35mm and 120 stock designed for people shooting events, travel, and portraits in daylight without studio equipment.

Available in 35mm and 120. Global distribution has expanded since roughly 2019, though it can still be harder to find in the United States and Europe than in Asia-Pacific markets.

Zone Light Meter applies a reciprocity exponent of 1.10 past one second. For a stock designed for bright-light outdoor work, long exposures are rarely the use case, but if you are doing dusk or interior available-light work with it, the correction is there.
